🩺“Health For All”🩺

Friday 7th April marks World Health Day 2023, alongside the 75th anniversary of the World Health Organisation. The focus of this year’s World Health Day is “Health For All” which envisions that all people have good health for a fulfilling life in a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world. This is a valuable message, as the right to health is a basic human right to which the entire population should have access to.

Health For All envisions that all people have good health for a fulfilling life in a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable world.

The right to health is a basic human right. Everyone must have access to the health services they need when and where they need them without financial hardship.

So what is the problem?

Currently, 30% of the global population is not able to access essential health services, and almost two billion people face catastrophic health spending. The most significant inequalities affect those in the most vulnerable settings across the world.

🌎5 ways you can celebrate World Health Day🌎

  1. Make conscious food choices – Focus on incorporating at least 5 portions of fruit or vegetables today, and think about how you can make more sustainable food choices – can you buy local or organic food?
  2. Get active – The NHS recommends that adults should do some type of physical activity each day, and exercising just once or twice a week can reduce your risk of heart disease or stroke. A simple way to incorporate physical activity into your day is to go on a short walk during your lunch break at work.
  3. Encourage others & spread awareness – Having a simple conversation with friends, family and colleagues about small daily habits to improve health can make a difference. People feel empowered by encouragement from others. Posting and sharing positive thoughts on World Health Day on social media can help to spread awareness and promote the campaign.
  4. Get adequate sleep – Adults should aim for 7 – 9 hours of sleep each night for good health. Good sleep can improve brain performance, mood and overall health.
  5. Stay hydrated – Drinking enough water each day is crucial to regulate body temperature, maintain focus and brain function, improve sleep quality, and mood. Adults are recommended to drink 6 – 8 cups of water each day.
